Dubuque, Iowa

The Board of Directors of Camp Albrecht Acres received a check for $13,378.00 at their noon meeting today from representatives of Rock ‘n Roll Rewind 2010 and Hartig Drug Company for the benefit of their facility, a summer camp for kids and adults with special needs.

Rock ‘n Roll Rewind was a reunion of bands that performed in the Dubuque area in the 1960’s and their event held August 6th and 7th was attended by more than 1000 fans.  Over 100 musicians and volunteers came together to create an atmosphere of fun coupled with incredible music.

Corporate sponsor Hartig Drug Company sold tickets and promoted the event along with Classic Hits Q107.5. Dick Hartig, CEO of Hartig said, “Every one who attended seemed to be having a tremendous amount of fun.  I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome on behalf of the Camp.”

Greg Pekas, a former band member and an originator of the concept stated, “One could build a case that the summer of love wasn’t 1967, but rather 2010.  The bands provided two nights of pure rock magic.”

A surprise unfolded during today’s presentation to the Board of Camp Albrecht Acres. The Dick and Brenda Hartig Charitable Foundation announced that the Foundation would match all revenues generated from ticket sales to the event.

Dick McGrane, Classic Hits Q107.5 anchor and also a member of Camp Albrecht Acres Board shared, “This whole event was a tremendous gift due to the generosity of the Dubuque Rock Community and the donated time and talent of the bands and volunteers who made it possible.  It’s humbling.”
