– Hartig Drug Company (“Hartig Drug”) regrets to announce the unexpected closure of its Prophetstown location, effective September 9, 2026.

The decision follows an unexpected and immediate loss of the pharmacy staff at the Prophetstown location. With a small pharmacy team and limited availability of qualified, licensed pharmacy professionals in the area, Hartig Drug has been unable to secure the staffing necessary to continue operating the pharmacy safely and responsibly.

This decision was not made lightly, and Hartig Drug recognizes the significant impact this closure will have on the Prophetstown community. For the last 20 years, Hartig Drug has been proud to serve local residents and families, and the company is deeply grateful for the trust and support the community has shown throughout that time.

Hartig Drug has carefully considered alternatives to closing the location, including efforts to identify and recruit pharmacy professionals. Unfortunately, given the circumstances and the limited availability of pharmacy staffing in the area, the company is unable to maintain pharmacy operations at the Prophetstown location.

Hartig Drug is committed to helping make the transition as smooth as possible for affected patients. Patient records and prescription services will be accessible at any Hartig Drug location in Illinois, and physical records will be transferred to Hartig Drug’s location in Savanna, IL.
